One person is dead and two others are in hospital following an incident at an east-end hotel Monday night, Toronto police have confirmed.

Emergency crews responded to the call at a hotel on Metropolitan Road, in the Warden Avenue and Highway 401 area, sometime before 8 p.m.

Initial reports indicated that the patients, one of which was reported to be a young girl, were transported to hospital without vital signs.

A representative with Toronto EMS confirmed that three people had been taken to hospital from a second-floor room, but did not provide further details.

The homicide unit is now investigating, police said.
