Argentina soccer fans partied late into the night Wednesday, taking to the streets to celebrate their team’s latest win which clinched their spot in the World Cup final.

About 2,000 people took over the roadway on St. Clair Avenue and Via Italia hours after Argentina beat the Netherlands in yesterday's semifinal match, causing major traffic delays and TTC interruptions in the process.

Fans say this celebration has been a long time coming – about 24 years to be exact. The last time Argentina qualified for the World Cup final was in 1990.

Despite the size of the jubilant crowd, police reported no serious issues. Only one person was arrested for public intoxication but there were no reported injuries.

Thirty extra officers helped patrol the crowd on foot, on bike and on police horse.

Police and the crowds are expected to return to the area in droves on Sunday when Argentina faces Germany in the final.

Until then, World Cup host countryBrazil will face Netherlands in the bronze medal game on Saturday.
