TORONTO - With deft fingers and record speed, an all thumbs Toronto teen has managed to land a spot in an international texting competition.

Kathy Spence is heading to New York City on Jan. 13 to take part in an international competition that will pit her against some of the world's fastest texters.

Spence, 17, was the winner of last year's LG Canadian Texting Championships, taking home $25,000 in prize money and a chance to compete for title of "world's fastest texter."

Spence, who can type a sentence in under 4 seconds, says she sends up to 2,000 texts in a month.

Contestants from thirteen different countries will compete for a chance to win US$100,000.
