A crash between a transport truck and a car carrying a family of four blocked traffic for hours on the Queen Elizabeth Way in Oakville early Friday morning.

The driver of the truck and the female driver of the car were slightly injured and sent to hospital. A male and two children in the car escaped injury.

Ontario Provincial Police closed lanes in both directions after the collision occurred on the westbound lanes of the QEW at Trafalgar Road just before 4:30 a.m. The truck rolled over, spilling debris onto the eastbound lanes of the highway. Officers are trying to determine if black ice caused the crash.

Police told CP24 they expect to reopen the Toronto bound lanes by 8 a.m. The closure on the Fort Erie bound lanes is expected to last a little while longer.
