HAMILTON, Ont. -- Alanis Morissette says she plans to remaster her seminal smash, "Jagged Little Pill," and include new tunes and personal writing.

"I'll share a lot of songs that I was writing during that era that I never shared publicly," the Ottawa native told The Canadian Press on the red carpet at the Juno Awards in Hamilton on Sunday.

"I want to make it half-book, half-music, so I'll do a lot of writing and chapter writing and just personal stories, really, around the whole creating of the record and the experience that ensued thereafter."

Morissette got her big breakthrough with 1995's "Jagged Little Pill," her third studio album.

The alt-rock project was packed with deeply personal hits, including "You Oughta Know," "Hand in My Pocket," "Ironic," "You Learn" and "Head Over Feet."

Glen Ballard, who produced and co-wrote the album, said he thinks the key to its success was "an extraordinary voice and an extraordinary sensibility with Alanis."

"She was able to really connect what she felt with her voice, and that's what we got. And she's just a great genius."

Morissette said she might also add new songs to the remastered release.

"Always new songs, whether I write one over the next few weeks or there are songs that I haven't shared that I really stand by.

"So there will be something new -- many things that are new."

Morissette, who has won 13 Junos and seven Grammy Awards, was at the Junos to be inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame.

Many artists at the Junos said they were excited to meet her at the show, including Crystal Shawanda, who said "Jagged Little Pill" was "an awakening" for her.

"It was like this voice was telling me, 'You're a woman, you can be tough, you can be heard, you can roar,' and I just love it," she said.

"So for me, it's kind of full circle to be here at the Junos and for her to be honoured."

Lights said there was something "really inspirational," poetic and raw about the album.

"She was doing something differently. When I first heard it, I heard her phrasing lyrics differently than I hear most people phrase lyrics.

"She kind of sings the way she talks and that always has inspired me."
