TORONTO -- Melanie Berry is leaving her role as president/CEO of the Juno Awards and the Canadian Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences to become chief executive officer of Canada's Walk of Fame.

Berry has steered the annual Juno Awards since Shania Twain hosted the 2003 show in Ottawa.

Since then, the Junos -- once rooted in southern Ontario -- have travelled to different Canadian cities for each telecast.

During her run, the Junos broadcasts garnered two Canadian Screen Awards and 11 Gemini Awards, two of which went directly to Berry as executive producer.

Berry had also acted as president/CEO of the charity organization MusiCounts.

A spokesperson for the Junos told The Canadian Press that the CARAS board of directors would "establish a process and timeline for the naming of a new president and CEO over the coming months."

Prior to joining CARAS, which puts on the Junos, Berry had served as the executive director for hte Ireland Fund of Canada and created her own special events firm, Rock Pile Event Management.

This year's Canada's Walk of Fame Awards will be held Oct. 18 at the Sony Centre for the Performing Arts, to be broadcast on Global at a later date.

Canada's Walk of Fame was established in 1998.
