Hundreds of Toronto residents are getting into the cycling spirit as the city rolls out the official start to Bike Month.

On a day to promote taking two wheels to work instead of four, hundreds of cyclists took part in a group commute through the main arteries of the city Monday morning.

They rode down to Nathan Phillips Square for a pancake breakfast. Mayor David Miller also announced plans for a $70 million strategy to accommodate safer cycling in the city.

Toronto's first Bike-to-work Day was in 1988. The event has grown in popularity over the years.
