TORONTO - The Toronto Blue Jays recalled right-hander Henderson Alvarez from double-A New Hampshire on Tuesday and demoted left-lander Wildredo Ledezma to triple-A Las Vegas.

The 21-year-old Alvarez has spent most of the season with New Hampshire, posting an 8-5 record in 15 games with a 2.86 earned-run average. Alvarez made two starts with single-A Dunedin to begin the season and was 0-1 with a 6.46 ERA.

Alvarez will make his major-league debut Wednesday night at Rogers Centre against the Oakland A's.

Ledezma, 30, appeared in two games with Toronto this season, posting a 9.00 ERA over three innings pitched. He returns to Las Vegas, where he was 1-1 with three saves and a 4.63 ERA in 34 relief appearances this season.
