TORONTO - Globe and Mail writer Leah McLaren has turned her experiences as a London-based reporter into a TV pilot.

"Abroad," starring Liane Balaban, is set to air on CBC-TV on March 14.

CBC says the movie focuses on Amy Pearce, a female reporter who takes a junior position at a London newspaper and struggles to understand English men.

The two-hour production is a comedy pilot for a series in development.

Comedian Sean Cullen co-stars as an eccentric editor while Maury Chaykin plays a newspaper baron.

"Abroad" was shot in Toronto and London. McLaren wrote the pilot and also served as an executive producer.
