A record number of Torontonians turned out to vote in advance polls this year, with more than 160,000 residents casting their ballots across all wards.

That number was more than double the 2010 election advance voter turnout of just over 77,000.

“We are pleased that Toronto saw the highest advance vote since amalgamation,” City Clerk Ulli S. Watkiss said in a written statement. “We hope this trend continues into Election Day, and encourage all eligible electors to come out and vote on October 27.”

The rest of the city will have a chance to cast their ballot in exactly one week from now on election day. The city will open 1,679 polling locations across the city’s 44 wards from 10 a.m. to 8 p.
