Toronto Police say a 15-month-old child had to be rushed to hospital after ingesting a prescription pill that was one of many spread across a playground in the Kensington Market area on Sunday afternoon.

Police said the child was playing with their mother in the playground at Bellevue Square Park, bounded by Denison Square, Bellevue Avenue, Wales Avenue and Augusta Avenue.

The child found a tablet on the playground slide and tried to eat, police said. The mother removed the pill and rushed the child to hospital.

Police say the 15-month-old will be okay.

Officers responded to the scene a short while later and found a number of pills scattered around the park.
