The 2024 Olympics may not be the only major event city officials have set their sights on.

According to a report in The Toronto Star, the city may also be considering a bid to host Expo 2025.

The Toronto newspaper says Mayor John Tory sent a letter, dated July 5, asking Vicente Gonzalez Loscertales, the secretary-general of the Paris-based Bureau International des Expositions, to visit the city later this year to speak to business leaders and others about the benefits that Expo host cities experience.

Toronto would have to have a bid ready for the November 2016 deadline.

Speaking to The Star, city councillor Kristyn Wong-Tam said the event would likely bring in about 40 million global visitors to Toronto.
