A shooting inside a Scarborough bar has sent five people to hospital.

Gunfire first erupted inside McGradies Tap & Grill on Victoria Park Avenue near Ellesmere Road at around 2:30 a.m.

Police say that three of the victims were located inside the bar and transported by paramedics while two others made their own way to hospital.

Paramedics initially said that all of the victims had non-life threatening injuries, however Const. Victor Kwong later told CP24 that several of them were transported in critical condition and are undergoing emergency surgery.

Kwong said that investigators have not yet been able to speak with the victims but are reviewing surveillance footage from inside the bar.

“The three victims that were still inside the restaurant were taken away by paramedics pretty quickly so we weren’t able to get a good recap from them but we are hoping that the video at the scene and people who may have been at the scene will give us some good descriptions of suspects and what may have led up to this,” he said. “This all took place within the restaurant so the patrons may have seen this person.”

Kwong said it is too early to say whether or not all of the victims were targeted or whether some of them may have just been caught by a stray bullet.

No arrests have been made at this time.
