A 23-year-old man was rushed to hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries after a possible impaired driving crash in Scarborough early Friday morning.

Police say that the man was travelling at a high rate of speed near Kingston Road and Old Kingston Road at around 3 a.m. when he lost control of his vehicle, clipped a power pole and then slammed into a nearby used car dealership.

The driver was initially trapped in his vehicle and had to be freed by Toronto Fire Services.

Police say that the driver is being investigated for impaired operation of a motor vehicle. Officers were seen removing beer cans from the vehicle early Friday morning.

There is a power outage in the surrounding area as a result of the crash; however it is not immediately clear how many people it is affecting.
