Police are investigating after they say a man was stabbed in Scarborough after refusing to give money to someone who asked for spare change.

Police say the victim, a 57-year-old man, was standing near his vehicle in a parking lot at 41 Antrim Cres., located near Kennedy Road and Highway 401.

The man, police say, was then approached by an unknown man who asked for spare change. According to investigators, the victim of the attack did not have change and turned away. The suspect, police allege, then stabbed the victim in the back multiple times and fled on foot before eventually entering a dark-coloured SUV.

The suspect is described as a black male in his 20s. Police say he was seen wearing dark clothing and a hooded sweatshirt.
