Durham Regional Police are investigating after a 17-year-old was stabbed at an Ajax house party last weekend.

It happened at a home on Dolby Crescent at around 12:10 a.m. Sunday.

Police say the teen confronted a group of males who were suspected of stealing shoes at the party.

Investigators say the boy was stabbed numerous times after a large fight broke out outside the residence.

The suspects, police say, fled in a light-coloured Volvo station wagon.

The victim was taken to a local hospital and later transferred to a Toronto trauma centre with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

The suspect believed to have stabbed the teen is described by police as a black male with a light complexion. He was seen wearing a beige coat.
