LONDON, Ont. -- A visitation is planned today for a Western University student killed in an alleged drunk driving incident last week.

Andrea Christidis, 18, died in hospital Friday, two days after she was struck by a minivan on campus.

The first-year student's funeral is scheduled for Wednesday at St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church in Toronto.

A 24-year-old London, Ont., man is facing charges in the crash.

Jared DeJong is charged with dangerous driving causing bodily harm, impaired operation causing bodily harm and having in excess of 80 milligrams of alcohol per 100 millilitres of blood.

The charges will likely be upgraded as a result of Christidis's death.

He was released on $1,500 bail and is scheduled to appear in court on Nov. 3.

Christidis's family said Monday they are "heartbroken and deeply saddened" by her death.

"Andrea was a kind, compassionate and loving human being," they said in a statement.

"She was deeply loved, as reflected by the outpouring of condolences, sympathies and prayers from all those that she touched. Her beautiful smile, kind soul and infectious spirit will be missed."
