Gurdeep Ahluwalia
Gurdeep Ahluwalia is the weekend Co-Host of CP24 Breakfast and reports and anchors for CP24 throughout the week. In addition to his roles at CP24, Ahluwalia is an occasional reporter and anchor for TSN’s SportsCentre. He joined CP24 in May 2009 as a member of the weather and traffic team and joined TSN’s team in 2012.
Over his time at CP24, Ahluwalia has covered federal, provincial and municipal elections, the G20, anchored the CP24 Olympic Desk, and hosted from the parade routes of both the Pride and The Caribbean Carnival for CP24.
Ahluwalia has fast become a favourite of Toronto viewers and in 2009 he was named “Favourite TV Personality” at the Masala! Mehndi! Masti’s People’s Choice Awards. He was also named one of Canada’s top 35 bachelors by Asian Woman Magazine in June 2010. In 2012, he made the National Post’s Worthy 30 list.
Born and raised in Toronto, Ahluwalia earned a degree in Mass Media Communications and Sociology at McMaster University. In addition to his studies, he worked as sports editor for the campus newspaper and hosted/produced a sports talk radio show on 93.3 CFMU- McMaster Campus Radio.
Following production positions at TSN, The Score and The Hockey News, Ahluwalia began as an on-air personality in 2007 as host of Daytime, a morning show on Rogers TV Peel Region. This soon led him to work at Rogers TV Toronto as host and producer for the Toronto Sports Show and sideline reporter for the Toronto Marlies during the 2008-09 season.
Ahluwalia is a die-hard Toronto sports fan and in his free time, he enjoys catching a sporting event, learning new things, watching documentaries, visiting his three adorable nephews and going to the gym. Ahluwalia is also active in the community with speaking engagements and hosting as many charity events throughout the year as his packed schedule allow. He particularly enjoys speaking with youth at the university, high school, and elementary school levels about career development and youth engagement in their communities.
