A Muskoka Lakes woman has been charged with impaired driving and sources tell CP24 she was driving Rob Ford’s vehicle when she was pulled over Tuesday afternoon.
Ford was not in the vehicle at the time and it is believed he is in rehab undergoing treatment for substance abuse.
The car has since been impounded and is parked at a Gravenhurst impound lot with its licence plates removed but sources confirm to CP24, the car does indeed belong to the mayor.
The 36-year-old woman has not been charged with stealing the vehicle.
Police identified the suspect as LeeAnne McRobb.
The mayor’s brother and campaign manager Doug Ford told CP24 he doesn’t know who McRobb is and hadn’t heard anything about the car being impounded.
Mayor Ford’s lawyer, Dennis Morris told CP24 he too hadn’t been briefed about any incident involving the mayor’s vehicle.
The vehicle will remain at the impound lot for seven days.
In a YouTube video posted by Moose FM, a woman believed to be McRobb is seen entering the impound lot and speaking to an employee inside. She tells the staff member that she has come to collect her belongings.
The woman also claims in the video to be a former patient at the rehab where Ford is recieving treatment.
