It is a busy day in Toronto with the CNE continuing its 18-day run at the Exhibition Grounds and executive committee holding its final meeting of this term of council at city hall. Here is a look at what is going on across the city.

Weather:

News:

A proposal to give parking enforcement officers the power to mail tickets to drivers who park illegally on city streets is on the agenda today as the executive committee hold its final meeting of this term of council.

Police are investigating a pair of unrelated stabbings that sent two men to hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries early Wednesday morning. The first stabbing occurred outside a home on Felan Crescent in the Kipling Avenue and Albion Road area at around 1:15 a.m. while the second stabbing occurred at around 1:50 a.m. outside a restaurant on Yonge Street at Hillcrest Avenue.

A new study by the C.D. Howe Institute says the government would receive more money from alcohol sales and consumers would pay less if more retailers are allowed into the fold.

Traffic:

One lane in each direction on Yonge Street will be closed between The Esplanade and Bloor Street during non-rush hours this month for utility repairs.

York Mills Road will also be down to one eastbound and one westbound lane between Lesmill Road and Scarsdale Road due to bridge work lasting till Oct. 27.

Richmond Street will be down to two lanes between Church and Yonge streets until October for a watermain project. The road will also be reduced to one lane between Bay and York streets for the next week.

Events:

Hedley performs at the Molson Canadian Amphitheatre in support of their fifth studio album, Wild Life. Canadian hip hop legend Kardinal Offishall will open the show, which begins at 7 p.m.
