Toronto’s leading mayoral candidates – minus Rob Ford – are squaring off in two debates Wednesday, with about five months to go until voters elect a new city council.

Olivia Chow, David Soknacki, Karen Stintz and John Tory are participating in a morning debate in front of high school students at Toronto French School on Lawrence Avenue East.

The English debate will be moderated by three students from the school’s Model UN Club and each candidate will be given time to tell students what three things they would do as mayor to make Toronto a great city for the teens' generation.

At 7 p.m., the four candidates will take part in a debate at Humber College.

The event is organized by Our Place Initiative and all questions will be asked by citizens in the crowd.

Mayor Rob Ford, who is receiving treatment at a rehab facility north of Toronto, is not attending the debates.

Torontonians head to the polls Oct. 27.
