Three intersections along Queen Street East will be closed at various times over the next three months, as the TTC upgrades its infrastructure to prepare for the arrival of new low-floor streetcars.

The public transit agency is installing and replacing streetcar tracks, and upgrading utilities and infrastructure this spring and summer.

The work will force the city to close Queen Street East at Leslie Street, Broadview Avenue and Victoria Street.

In a news release, the TTC said the intersection of Queen and Leslie will be closed from May 11 to June 21 to replace 80-year-old water mains and install new streetcar tracks to the Leslie Barns, a new storage and maintenance facility that is being built to house the new streetcars.

To replace tracks and switches, the intersection of Queen and Victoria will be off-limits to motorists between May 11 and 31.

Queen and Broadview will be closed from June 30 to July 25 while crews replace tracks and switches.

During that closure, 501 Queen and 504 King Streetcars will divert and replacement buses will run along Queen between Coxwell Avenue and River Street.

The TTC will be running additional buses on Greenwood, Jones and Pape avenues to help customers get to and from the Bloor-Danforth line (Line 2) if they opt to take the subway.

Businesses will remain open during the closures, the TTC said.
