Dufferin Street has been unseated as the worst road in Toronto, according to a new list by the Canadian Automotive Association.

CAA’s 2016 ‘Worst Roads’ list was released Thursday morning and Bayview Avenue, which was ranked as the 10th worst road in the province last year, moved up to 8th spot on this year’s list.

Bayview Avenue was immediately followed by Dufferin Street, which was ranked the ninth worst road in Ontario.

Dufferin Street is slowly moving away from the top of the annual list.

In 2014, Dufferin was ranked the worst road in Ontario and was third worst in the province in 2015.

In Toronto, the worst roads were ranked as follows:

1.) Bayview Avenue

2.) Dufferin Street

3.) Lawrence Avenue East

4.) Markham Road

5.) Scarlett Road

Stephen Buckley, the general manager of Transportation Services for the City of Toronto, said the roads that made this year's list are all either under construction or will be soon.

"Most of them have been done in sections," Buckley told CP24 Thursday morning.

"Lower Bayview is actually under construction right now. Bayview from Lower Pottery to Upper Pottery will be slated for later this year. And the section between 401 and Steeles is also slated for this year but we may need to do the coordination efforts (and) push it one more year. Dufferin Street is another street where we are punching out several sections this year and Lawrence Avenue will be completed this year. Markham Road will be completed this year and Scarlett Road is in the queue as well."

Buckley says this year's list is an improvement from a few years ago, when Toronto had seven out of 10 of the province's worst roads.

"I think that part of this is that the 2013 council decided to double its investment in our major roads so we’ve been able to pick off more and more of the worst streets in Toronto," he added.

"With the funding we have now, we are on a better cycle so that we are not falling behind. I think another issue we have coming on the horizon is many of our local roads are starting to reach the end of their useful life as well so the local roads are the ones we want to look at over the next five years."

The worst road in the province, according to CAA's 2016 list, is County Road 49 in Prince Edward County.
