Police searching for a missing 29-year-old woman in Richmond Hill have discovered a body.

York Regional Police said the body, that of a female, was found in a wooded area and that foul play is not suspected. The deceased woman has yet to be identified.

The discovery was made as police scoured the area of Weldrick Road East and Bayview Avenue in search of a 29-year-old woman who has been missing in the area since Friday.

Vanessa Straumann was last seen leaving her home shortly after 5 p.m. on July 8.

The woman has not been seen since and police and her family have said they are concerned for her safety.

Straumann is described as white with a thin build. She stands five-foot-four with long, straight, strawberry-blond hair.

Officers searched the area Wednesday and set up a command post at a church parking lot at 136 Hillsview Drive, west of Bayview Avenue, where anyone with information can speak to police.
