A body has been found following a two-alarm fire in Scarborough, firefighters have confirmed.

According to Toronto Fire Services, the body was discovered during a secondary search of the home on Pennybrook Lane, in the Sheppard Avenue and Markham Road area, at around 5:30 p.m.

“When our first crew arrived flames were coming out of that second-floor window,” Toronto Fire Services Division Commander Bob O’Hallaran told CP24 at the scene.

“During a search they found a body in one of the bedrooms.”

There were several other people in the home at the time of the fire, O’Hallaran said.

Details on the gender and age of the victim were not immediately available.

The cause of the fire has not been determined.
