A 14-year-old boy was rushed to a trauma centre after being critically injured in a cycling incident at West Humber Park in Etobicoke Sunday evening.

It happened on a trail near John Garland Boulevard and Collingdale Road in the Martin Grove and Albion roads area.

The teen is believed to have struck a tree on a steep part of the trail while cycling with friends.

Reports from the scene say he was not wearing a helmet at the time of the incident.

He was rushed to a downtown hospital via emergency run, where he is in critical but stable condition.
