A 5-year-old boy has been seriously injured after being struck by a van at an Oshawa intersection.

Durham Regional Police said the incident occurred near Harmony Road North and Rossland Road East shortly before 3 p.m. Wednesday.

Investigators say a blue Dodge Caravan was heading north on Harmony Road when it struck the boy at the intersection of Rossland Road East. According to police, witnesses saw two children running east across Harmony Road from the west side.

The van had a green light, police said

The 54-year-old driver remained at the scene of the collision to assist the boy before paramedics arrived to airlift him to Sick Kids Hospital.
