A 35-year-old man has been charged with murder after his girlfriend was found stabbed to death inside their Hamilton apartment over the weekend.

Tania Cowell, 36, was found suffering from multiple stab wounds inside an apartment on Cherrywood Drive near King Street and New Mountain Road at some point Sunday.

Haiden Suarez Noa was then arrested in Guelph without incident and charged with second-degree murder in connection with Cowell's death.

According to police, the suspect and the victim were involved in a common-law relationship and had one child together.

Suarez Noa is expected to appear in court today.
