A ruptured gas pipe has prompted Toronto fire crews to evacuate multiple buildings in the city's Corktown neighbourhood.

Toronto Fire Services says that at around 1:41 p.m., crews were called to the area of Parliament and Adelaide streets for a ruptured gas pipe.

Workers in the area were evacuated due to the gas leak as well as some surrounding buildings.

Fire officials said they were unsure what type of work was being done in the area.
