Rest easy, Toronto - your iconic landmark is not in any danger.

Smoke seen coming from the CN Tower's observation deck Thursday night was the result of a pyrotechnic display, not an actual fire, firefighters have confirmed to CP24.

The smoke is part of preparations for a forthcoming show, firefighters said.

"We can confirm that fireworks were set off from the CN Tower this evening as a part of the dress rehearsal for the Pan Am Games Opening Ceremony," games representative Heather Irwin said in an email sent to CP24.

"This was announced earlier today in our press conference at the main media centre at CIBC Pan Am Park.”

No injuries were reported.
