A portion of College Street has been reopened after being closed for more than two hours for a pipe bomb disposal operation.

Police headquarters, as well as College Street between Bay and Yonge streets, were shut down after someone brought a pipe bomb to police for disposal at around 6 p.m.

The closures were a precaution, police said. College Street was reopened shortly after 9 p.m.

Details on who brought the bomb to police, or where they acquired it, were not immediately available.

The device has been taken by police to the Leslie Street Spit for detonation.

No injuries have been reported.
