Some GO Transit commuters are currently experiencing serious delays following multiple track-level issues Wednesday.

Vanessa Thomas, with media relations at GO Transit, says the delays on the Lakeshore East and Lakeshore West lines relate to unscheduled maintenance work and inspections on bridges by City of Toronto crews, and a Via Rail operational issue near Cherry Street just after 7 p.m.

According to GO Transit, service on both lines has been restored, but lengthy delays remain in place.

As a result, GO has initiated their TTC protocol which allows passengers to travel on the TTC free of charge with proof of GO purchase.

Passengers may use their GO tickets at the entrances of the following TTC stations:

  • Union
  • Main
  • Kennedy
  • Royal York
  • Kipling
