Emergency crews are tackling a fire that broke out at a home in Vaughan Sunday evening.

The fire started at a home in the Dufferin Street and Major MacKenzie Drive area, near Alex Black Street and Sir Benson Drive in Vaughan, police said.

Images from the scene showed visible flames on the roof and garage of the detached home and heavy black smoke billowing into the surrounding air.

The fire was knocked down by around 7 p.m., but firefighters remained on scene to put out hot spots, Vaughan Fire & Rescue Service said.

It’s not yet clear how the fire started, firefighters said.

No injuries have been reported.
