A local architect has died of his injuries in hospital after he was struck by a vehicle while cycling in Rosedale last month.

The man – identified by police Tuesday as 75-year-old Roger du Toit – was hit at the intersection of Roxborough Street East and Wrentham Place May 19 at around 8:20 a.m.

Police said he was cycling northbound on Wrentham Place when he entered the intersection and was struck by a 2005 Toyota 4Runner being driven eastbound d on Roxborough Street East by a 43-year-old woman.

He was rushed to hospital with critical injuries. However police said Tuesday that he died in hospital June 1.

Du Toit was a founding partner at the architecture firm, DTAH. He was cycling less than a kilometre from the company’s office when he was struck.

“With great sadness we announce the tragic death of our founding partner,” the firm wrote on its Twitter page Tuesday. “His enthusiastic spirit will be missed.”

According to the bio on the firm’s website, duToit worked on projects across Canada and the world. He was also a fellow of the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada
