Cyclist struck in Markham suffers serious injuries

A cyclist was taken to hospital with serious head injuries after being struck by a vehicle in Markham Saturday afternoon.
The man was thrown from his bike after being hit from behind around 3:30 p.m. at the intersection of Markham Road and 16th Avenue, York Regional police said.
Bleeding from the head, he was taken to hospital where he was treated with stiches.
Police closed down a section of Markham Road following the collision.
No charges have been laid.
