Two boys will be getting a special surprise in the mail from newly acquired Blue Jays pitcher David Price after the baseball player spotted a photo on Twitter of a homemade jersey the children made to mark his arrival to Toronto.

Nine-year-old Jake Mallory, his friend Noah and Noah’s mother were heading to a Blue Jays game when they discovered the jersey Jake was going to wear had Jose Reyes' name on it.

“I couldn’t wear it because he plays for the Rockies now,” Jake told CP24 Monday.

“So I suggested we cover up Reyes and (the number) seven and put David Price and (the number) 14.”

A photo of Jake’s homemade jersey began to circulate on Twitter and was retweeted by both The Blue Jays and David Price himself.

Price asked his Twitter followers for help tracking down the child in the photo, promising to send him a real jersey.

A short time later, he was in touch with Noah’s mom, Jennifer Duplessis, who said both Noah and Jake will be receiving Price jerseys.

Jake’s mother Emma Watts told CP24.com that the boys attended Price’s first game at the Rogers Centre Monday afternoon and had a blast.

“It was the best game they’ve ever seen,” she said.

“Price pitched a great game.”

Watts said she is “blown away” by the positive power of social media.

“It was a great experience for them. It has been a great experience overall,” she added.
