York Regional Police’s hot pursuit of a donkey came to a peaceful conclusion last Friday when the animal was reunited with its owner.

Police say they received a call last Friday about a donkey on the loose in the area of McGillivray Road near Kleinburg.

According to police, the caller was concerned for the animal, who kept running out on to the road.

After a brief pursuit, officers were able to get the donkey under control and return it to the farm it escaped from near Rutherford and Huntington roads.

The police service has had its fair share of odd animal encounters in recent weeks. In April, York Regional Police chased down a turkey that was found wandering around a busy road in Keswick and yesterday, officers corralled a horse that was galloping across Highway 9 near Newmarket.
