A driver was arrested for leaving the scene of an accident following a collision in Mississauga early Saturday morning.

Police were initially called to an industrial area on Bonhill Road near Dixie Road at around 1:40 a.m. for reports that a number of vehicles and motorcycles were racing.

Police say that officers arrived on scene just as a large number of the vehicles were leaving the area.

At around that time, police say that they were notified of an accident nearby that involved a motorcycle and a car.

The car involved in the accident fled the scene; however police located the driver a short distance away and took him into custody.

The motorcycle rider, meanwhile, was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Police say the driver of the car has been released on a promise to appear in court.
