A Durham Regional Police drug investigation has led to the arrest of four people and seizure of 16 litres of GHB, a substance commonly known as the “date rape drug.”

According to investigators, two suspects were taken into custody after officers witnessed a drug transaction taking place in downtown Whitby on Feb. 27. The suspects, police say, were found with four litres of GHB in their possession.

More drugs were discovered inside a vehicle and at a Cochrane Street home after officers executed two search warrants. In total, 16 litres of GHB, 27.8 grams of cocaine, 27.5 grams of marijuana and 5.7 grams of magic mushrooms were seized along with $4,300 in cash. The total street value of the drugs is estimated to be about $7,700.

Police say two men and two women have been arrested in connection with the investigation.

Whitby residents Preston Daley, 27, Kadri Pearce-Lawrence, 22, Daniel Crawford, 29, and Lacey Biggar, 30, are facing multiple drug-related charges.
