Dufferin Street is no longer the worst road in the province but it remains unchallenged for the dubious distinction in the City of Toronto.

The Canadian Automobile Association (CAA) revealed their list of the top 10 roads across Ontario and their top five in regions such as Toronto on Thursday and this year Dufferin Street’s three-year reign at the top of the provincial list came to an end with a third-place finish.

The west-end road, however, remained atop the list of the worst roads in Toronto, beating out Bayview Aveneue, Markham Road, Kipling Avenue and Lawrence Avenue east for the title.

Provincially, Algonquin Boulevard West and Algonquin Boulevard East in Timmins were voted the worst and second worst roads in the province. Bayview Avenue was the only other Toronto road to crack the list, coming in at number 10.

The list was compiled following an online vote by Ontarians and is used by the CAA to pressure all levels of government to fund needed road repairs.

“It is clear from the responses across the province that better infrastructure is something that matters to motorists, cyclists, pedestrians and transit riders,” CAA Government Relations Specialist Caroline Grech said in announcing the results on Thursday morning.
