An elderly woman with a walker is without vital signs after she fell into a pool outside her home in Scarborough on Wednesday afternoon.

According to Const. Caroline de Kloet, the woman fell into the pool behind the home on Meldazy Drive near McCowan Road and Lawrence Avenue at around 12:15 p.m. and was heard yelling for help. The woma was using a walker near the pool when she fell.

A responding paramedic dove into the pool to retrieve her. Paramedics said an elderly man they believe is the woman's husband was nearby, but couldn't go into the pool to save his wife.

Officers then responded to the scene and helped pull the woman from the water, police say.

At that point, paramedics attempted to revive the woman using CPR. She was rushed to hospital.

Paramedics say the woman has not been pronounced dead.
