A woman has been pronounced dead on scene after a head-on collision in Brampton, Peel Regional Police confirm.

It happened in the intersection of Torbram Road and Countryside Drive at around 12:50 p.m.

Four other people who were travelling with the woman, including two children, suffered minor injuries in the crash and were transported to hospital by paramedics.

The male driver of the second vehicle was also taken to hospital for assesment, though the severity of his injuries are not known.

“Major Collision Bureau is here conducting their investigation and we are asking for anyone who witnessed the accident to come forward,” Const. Fiona Thivierge told CP24 at the scene. “We are looking for things like speed, direction of travel and whether the lights in the area were working properly and whether one or both of the parties went through a red light.”

The relation between the woman pronounced dead on scene and the four other passengers in her vehicle is not known.
