No one was injured after a fire broke out on a Union-Pearson Express train just outside the airport Friday morning.

UP Express sent out a tweet about the fire at around 7:30 a.m.

“The fire has been contained & guests are safe. We're working to restore service asap,” the rail service said in the tweet.

Metrolinx spokesperson Anne Marie Aikins told CP24 a small fire broke out underneath a train on an elevated portion of the rail link.

It wasn’t immediately clear where the fire originated, but the train will be taken out of service so that it can be inspected, Aikins said.

She said passengers were quickly escorted off the train without incident and buses were brought in to transport passengers the rest of the way.

UP Express said full service resumed around 8:40 a.m.
