A two–alarm fire caused more than $1 million in damage to two homes under construction in Scarborough Saturday night.

The fire broke out at an unoccupied home shortly before 9 p.m. on Heale Avenue, near Midland Avenue and Kingston Road, and at the height of the blaze, flames were up to 30-feet high.

The fire spread to a nearby home, which was also under construction, and it took firefighters about two hours to knock down the fire.

One home was completely destroyed and the other sustained only partial damage.

A firefighter sustained a non life-threatening injury to the neck, but Toronto Fire Capt. Stephan Powell told CP24 that no one else was hurt in the fire.

Officials could not confirm if the blaze is considered to be suspicious but said the Office of the Fire Marshal has been notified.
