Police have released surveillance camera footage showing a man accused of striking and killing an attendant as he sped away from a midtown gas station without paying last weekend.
The footage appears to show a man in a silver SUV pulling up to the pump at a gas station near Marlee and Roselawn avenues last Saturday night, getting out and filling his vehicle with gasoline. The video then shows the man reaching into the backseat, grabbing several gas cans and filling those up before getting back into the vehicle and driving away.
Police have previously accused Max Edwin Tutiven, 39, of second-degree murder in the death of Jayesh Prajapati.
Prajapati, 44, died after a motorist filled up an SUV with $112 worth of gas and left the Shell station without paying, hitting the attendant with his vehicle.
Police say Tutiven may have fled to Montreal.
He is described as white with a dark complexion, about five-foot-five, 220 to 230 pounds, with dark hair. The vehicle used is described as a 2000-2003, silver or beige, four-door Isuzu Rodeo.
