Mayor Rob Ford was at ease as he took a break from running Canada’s largest city in order to attend the Toronto Sportsmen’s Show Thursday morning.

You might even say he was having a ‘reel’ good time.

With a large crowd looking on, Ford managed to reel in a Rainbow Trout from a large pool full of fish set up for the annual outdoors show at Exhibition Place.

The catch was met with a large round of applause after Ford at first struggled to get the fish to bite.

“Relax buddy, relax, relax,” Ford said as the fish struggled at the end of his lure. “That’s a nice rainbow.”

The fish was put back into the water.

Ford was kept busy Thursday, getting up close and personal with an owl and a skunk and trying his luck at target practice using a pellet gun.

Ford told CP24 that fishing was more his style, though.

An avid fisher, Ford created headlines when he went bass fishing with Prime Minister Stephen Harper on Harrington Lake this summer.

“Anytime I can get away, I go fishing,” Ford said Thursday. “I love fishing.”

The Toronto Sportsmen’s Show began today and runs until Sunday.
