It appears patio season has been put on hold as chilly temperatures hit Toronto Sunday.

Environment Canada said a few flurries are in the forecast early Sunday and there is a 30 per cent chance of showers later on in the day.

Parts of the GTHA are under a frost advisory, including Hamilton, Caledon, Halton Hills, Milton, northern Durham Region, Newmarket, Georgina and Northern York Region and Toronto's daytime high of 6 C is well below the seasonal average.

"With an unseasonably cold arctic air mass in place across southern Ontario, temperatures will plunge to near or below the zero degree mark for several hours overnight into early Monday morning," a statement issued by Environment Canada reads.

The cooler weather isn't expected to stick around for long.

"Temperatures will rebound quickly upwards Monday morning as the air mass moderates under the strong mid-may sun," Environment Canada's advisory said.

Toronto will see a high of 13 C in the forecast on Monday and we should be able to say goodbye to the rain on Wednesday, when warmer weather returns.

Sunny skies are on tap for Toronto all next weekend and the temperature is expected to hover around 20 C on Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
