A Goodwill store on Dundas Street West was evacuated Monday after a woman found a knife and what appeared to be a grenade inside a donation bag.

Police were called to the store at 4975 Dundas St. W. just after noon. They said a woman at the store was opening a donation bag when she found the item.

Members of the Emergency Task Force went to the scene and took possession of the potentially hazardous items.

It was not clear when the package came in, Goodwill Spokesman Brian Kellow told CP24. He said there was no threat attached to the package and added that people sometimes drop off donations bags without realizing what’s inside them.

The Goodwill was about to close for Christmas and Kellow said operations would not be impacted.

All units had cleared the sceen by 2 p.m.

Police did not say whether the grenade is real.
