Toronto police say they have identified a suspect who allegedly entered a home in the Humber Heights area of Etobicoke last month and was found in a bedroom where a mother and child were sleeping.

Police say that at 3:44 a.m. on June 23, they were called to a home in the area of Fabian Place and Chapman Road.

Investigators say a woman was inside the home, sleeping with her child.

She woke up to hear strange sounds coming from inside the home.

She later saw a stranger standing at the foot of her bed.

Police say the woman screamed and the suspect fled.

Investigators are searching for a suspect identified as 38-year-old Brian Eric Rutherford of Toronto.

He is wanted for break-and-enter and failure to comply with recognizance.

Police warn that the suspect should not be approached if seen.
