A decision on the legality of secondary school teacher strikes in three separate school boards won’t be made until next week.

The Ontario Labour Relations Board adjourned its hearing on the strikes by teachers in the Durham, Peel and Rainbow district school boards on Thursday afternoon and is not expected to render a decision until at least Monday.

The news comes as secondary school teachers in Halton Region launch a work-to-rule campaign.

During the campaign, teachers with the Halton District School Board will not attend staff meetings and will refuse to provide comments on report cards. The teachers will also picket over the lunch hour and wear Ontario Secondary School Teachers Federations colours or armbands in the classroom.

The action, however, will not affect extracurricular activities or other school events like prom and graduation.

In addition to the work-to-rule campaign in Halton, teachers in Ottawa also launched similar action today.
